All these will undoubtedly help you connect with the SO on a profound level.
1. Visit the Step Pyramid of Djoser in Saqqara
The Pyramid of Djoser, also known as the Step Pyramid, was the first-ever building made of stone in all of Egypt. It eventually led the way to many other Egyptian buildings and pyramids made of stone.
Designed by an Egyptian chancellor, Imhotep, more than 4,600 years ago, the Pyramid of Djoser houses the coffin of Pharaoh Djoser. The pyramid was supposed to help the Pharaoh ascend to heaven and join the gods, thus the smooth and angled sides.
At the northern side of this UNESCO world heritage site is a temple with Djoser’s statue that peaks through a hole in the serdab (small stone structure). Meanwhile, a great court, altar, and stones (as boundary markers) lie at the southern part of the temple.
Location: Al Giza Desert, Giza Governorate, Egypt
Hours: Every day from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm
Admission: Free
2. Explore The Magnificent Cairo
Cairo, the largest metropolitan area in Africa and Egypt’s sprawling capital, stands on the banks of the Nile River. This city is home to extensive Ismalic historical architecture, with a perfect view of the Muhammad Ali Mosque, Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan, and many others.
When you decide to head to Cairo, it’s best to spend your day trips at the Egyptian Museum and King Tutankhamun. Meanwhile, a frenzied crowd of locals and tourists greet you when you take a walk at Tahrir Square.
Finally, complete your trip when you stroll through souvenir shops in Cairo. Arrayed at the heart of the metro are unique gift shops selling local memorabilia, jewellery, perfumes, and even aromatic spices.
Location: Cairo, Egypt
3. Tour the Pyramids of Giza
A fun tour to Cairo won’t be complete until you hit the Pyramids of Giza.
The Giza Pyramid Complex, better known as the Pyramids of Giza, were royal tombs for three different pharaohs. Located in the Western Desert, it gathers all the must-visit pyramids, namely, the Pyramid of Menkaure, the Khafre Pyramid, and the Great Pyramid of Giza.
When you’re at the Giza Pyramids, checking out all pyramid complexes, including the Great Sphinx rising from the Giza Plateau, be sure to ride a camel ride for a more exciting experience.
If you and your SO are the practical type, a guided tour will be perfect. But, if you’d like to learn everything first-hand, doing it on your own will also be great. And, whatever you do, be sure to wear a cap or hat and a comfortable outfit. It’s also ideal to go early in the morning to avoid large crowds.

4. Unearth the secrets of the Hatshepsut Temple
A trip to Egypt won’t be complete without a visit to the Hatshepsut Temple.
Hatshepsut Temple is one of the world’s most glorious architectural masterpieces—and highly noteworthy as a woman ruler commissioned it. Hatshepsut, the eldest daughter of Thutmose I, was one of the world’s first female rulers. She seized the role of queen regent during the 18th dynasty after her husband’s death, Thutmose II. She ruled Egypt for more than two decades, although her stepson, Thutmose III, eventually came of age at the time.
To establish Hatshepsut’s position in the kingdom, she asserted that she was the daughter of Amun, god of the air. While Hatshepsut built many other architectural wonders while she reigned, her crowning jewel was always her mortuary temple. Nonetheless, Thutmose III destroyed her legacy years after—and the underlying reasons are still a mystery to most of us.
It is best to visit Hatshepsut’s temple during the winter as temperatures are milder. But its downside is that you may encounter high-season crowds. So, if you can handle the summer heat, go from June to August to avoid the masses. Nevertheless, go early in the morning to avoid high temperatures.
