Best Herbal Teas for Anxiety and Insomnia
Spread the love

Anxiety is the feeling of nervousness, worry, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome. Insomnia, on the other hand, is the chronic inability to fall asleep, stay asleep, or the overall failure to achieve restorative and high-quality sleep. Both disorders are associated with a range of health problems.

Best Herbal Teas for Anxiety and Insomnia

Anxiety is associated with troublesome concentration, restlessness, extreme worry, lack of sleep, and nervousness. Insomnia leads to sleep deprivation. All these symptoms have both short-term and long-term effects on health. People use a multi-faceted approach to manage anxiety and insomnia, including remedies such as exercise, yoga, meditation, and herbal teas.

Here are some of the number one best herbal teas

Research indicates that over 30% of people suffer from anxiety and insomnia. For a long time, herbal teas have been used as a popular beverage choice in managing both conditions. Herbs are natural remedies for these conditions, especially when combined with specific relaxation techniques or lifestyle adjustments.

Chamomile

This is a garden herb with beautiful flowers. The flowers, when dried, can make quite an effective tisane. Chamomile tea is excellent at calming the gut. Moreover, it contains apigenin, which is known to support sleep, suppress depression and relieve anxiety. Research covering nursing home residents showed that those who used about 400 mg of chamomile extract daily had a better sleep than those who didn’t use the extract.

Passionflower

Passionflower is a tropical vine that has, for a long time, been used to calm the mind. It contains compounds that prevent anxiety and insomnia by merely relaxing your mind from overthinking. The functional part of the plant is the flower. The brew is obtained by soaking the dried passion flowers in water. Passionflower teas have become more popular over the years and are available in local markets and through online retailers.

Valerian

Valerian plant is used as a remedy for supporting sleep. The roots are dried and steeped into the water to produce the famous brew. The roots are rich in compounds that alter brain function in terms of how someone reacts to stress, fear, and anxiety. By doing so, the brew calms the mind and prevents you from overthinking.

A mixture of honey and turmeric

This combination is popular in East and South Asia. It can be used as a powder or in sliced form. In powdered form, it is a yellow spice with the ability to prevent inflammation. This powder, coupled with honey (which is good at calming the brain), helps one catch sleep. Additionally, turmeric powder can be used as a tea and brewed in milk to make a dairy beverage.

Skullcap

Skullcap, native to northern America, has been used in many parts of the world to remedy stress and anxiety; the functional components contained in the skullcap plant include the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). GABA is a swift neurotransmitter that has a calming effect on the brain. Moreover, the plant is considered a sedative and an antispasmodic herb. As a remedy for insomnia, the skullcap plant is rich in a compound referred to as baicalin.

Time To Kick Anxiety

About 30% of people suffer from anxiety and insomnia. And whereas most of these people use a multi-faceted approach to managing these conditions, herbal teas have been considered the natural remedy for a long time. Next time the workweek has you tense in the neck, try a mug of tea to relieve you of that unwanted stress.
